TESTIMONIALS

My love for the Beef Shorthorn was bred into me, with my grandmother bringing the first shorthorn cattle into the area 50 years ago.

I noticed, Wells Beef Belgium blue cattle at the local yards, about 10 years ago. I was very impressed with the quality. Once, I discovered that Ken and Jenny had started a Beef Shorthorn stud in the Bega Valley and crossed the Beef Shorthorn with the Belgium Blues. I was sold! Over the last few years, I have bought a lot of the Belgium Blue X Beef Shorthorn heifers, from them. Either out of the paddock, or at the yards.

I have always loved the look and their nature. I particularly love the blue roans. No matter the colour, they have great thickness, and are very well put together. Great mothers that rear lovely calves. They handle well and are respectful of fences. So, I find them trouble free.

I have also brought two Stud bulls from Wells Beef, over the years. The first one a roan, that had a superb temperament, so quiet. Which is why it was devastating to lose him in the fires, along with some of my beloved Belgium Blue X Beef Shorthorn heifers. Jenny had rung to see how we had faired in the fires. When she learned what I had lost, she said she had a nice, quality, born in the purple roan bull, that I could use if I need a bull. In the end, I bought that bull at a very reasonable rate.

I appreciate the ongoing interest and support I get from Wells Beef, and the solid relationship we share.

We are so glad we purchased one of Jenny Wells' shorthorn bulls.
We have had trouble with calving and fertility problems in recent times, but since having the shorthorn bull we have achieved 100% success rate with calves.

We have had zero issues with calving and the calves are doing very well. The bull has an excellent temperament.
We have no hesitation in recommending Wells beef Shorthorn bulls.

We’re very happy with the performance of our Wells shorthorn bull. Excellent pregnancy testing rates and the calves are showing great weight for age.

Our Wells beef Shorthorn x Belgium Blue heifers have done a great job producing vealer calves. Calved well and we are happy with the final weights.

Purchased ‘Moonshine’ a white poll bull 4 years ago. He has matured into a large bodied muscled bull with a very quiet nature, respectful of people and fences. A very fertile bull whose calves have all thrown to his type regardless of female breed. Strong born calves with minimal birth problems. Bull calves this season weighing approx 400 kgs at 8 months, would make excellent steers to grow out or feedlot. His heifers are fertile well grown with good calving and milking ability
and have an inherited quiet nature.

Last year purchased ‘Kenny’ a strawberry roan bull who has grown exceptionally well and will make another large bodied muscular bull who is also very quiet and easy to handle. Performed very well with his first joining, calves not yet on ground. In all we are very happy with our bull purchases and will have no hesitation in purchasing more from Jenny in the future.

I first noticed the Belgium blue x shorthorn advertised at the Bega sale yards in April 2021. After purchasing 21 heifers I have been very happy with the growth and temperament of the heifers. I also run a small herd of Belgium blue cattle and was keen to try the shorthorn cross, to introduce some softness to the herd.
